Whether you’re actively seeking a new role or just want to sharpen your skills, blogs can be a good resource. Here is a list of blogs for job seekers to follow:
Ask the Headhunter – Nick Corcodilos provides a detailed website for job seekers that is more than a blog. His free weekly Ask the Headhunter newsletter (currently on hiatus) is a treasure trove of advice. I know I’m looking forward to its return!
Reed.co.uk – This site offers a wealth of career advice including CV templates, interview advice, personal statements, and more. It’s UK-based, so some of the advice may not be geared towards job seekers in other countries. It’s one of the most comprehensive blogs for job seekers that I’ve come across.
InterviewIQ – Out of Australia, the team at InterviewIQ offers assistance with CVs, LinkedIn and online branding, plus an active YouTube channel with great video content.
FlexJobs – This is a job board for remote, flexible and work-from-home roles with an active blog. Job seekers will find tips on a range of career issues, with a special focus on flex opportunities.
CareerAddict – Originally a blog, but now a full-service career platform, CareerAddict is based in Ireland. Topics include working abroad, management, entrepreneurship, choosing a career, and more. They have a rich social media presence as well.
Hired – This site is focused on tech and sales professionals and includes posts on avoiding scams during your job search, managing your finances while looking for a new role, and salary negotiation.
CareerPivot – Visit this site if you’re interested in changing to a totally new career in later life. You’ll gain practical tips that can help you make a career transition through small, sustainable steps. Also available is a podcast called Repurpose Your Career.
No matter what career stage you are in, following these blogs for recruiters can help you figure out your next best step.
