Some of the best trading partnerships in the NPAworldwide network happen when partners form a relationship where the other is essentially an extension of their desk, and treat each other as if they were working in the same office… even if they’re across the globe.
Just as a recruiter is a business partner and is critical to the success of their client’s business, the recruiter’s trading partner (who provides the candidate) is just as essential, as your reputation is on the line.
As one of our members says, “our recruitment partners act as an extension to our team and deal directly with the client alongside us. We also often ask our trusted recruitment partners to get involved in larger recruitment bids with us.“
A successful engineering/manufacturing recruiter in NPAworldwide will send his longtime trading partner (20+ years of splits!) a job description as soon as he gets it, then they discuss, and he organizes a meeting with the hiring manager and has the trading partner on the call with him to make sure she completely understands the job. Since she is finding the candidates for him, he says he gives her all the information he can. “It’s a true partnership,” he said. “They can’t go in and take your client, it’s against the NPAworldwide bylaws… so I share as much as I can.”
A great partnership thrives on transparency and trust. Your trading partner will need to plan, search/source, screen, identify the best candidates, test the candidates, interview them, and present them, so it behooves you to give them all the necessary information they need to do that.
His trading partner says that all the information he provides her ultimately helps her find the perfect candidate – she’s able to share the client’s name, and more details about the job/company, and really “sell it” to the candidate. Once she finds the perfect candidate for the job/client, she does a thorough write-up on the candidate that the importer is able to send right to his client, and once he gets feedback, he immediately shares with her.
The perk about this relationship? When the exporting recruiter finds a candidate that might be a fit for her partner’s client, she sends it to that partner, even if there isn’t necessarily an opening posted to the client’s website. Because they have had so many successful placements together and have a great relationship with the client, the client is always open to looking at the candidates this team provides.
