So this is often the time of year clients take a break from recruiting as do some candidates. If you are finding the ability to connect difficult, have you considered using your time to get ready for 2019? Use your time to research the top tools for recruiters or best for small business.
Consider these 5 things that might help you implement some best practices for recruiters and get you in the best position possible to make money in the year ahead.
1. Back up your files
It does not go more than a week between horror stories for me anymore. Systems lost, details being recovered, accounts being ransomed, and on it goes. PC Magazine has a great list of tools. Some referenced as best for small business are MosyPro, iDrive and Carbonite. Here is a link to the 10 best. Do it now.
2. Change your passwords
You know you use the same password for everything. Maybe it is time to switch it up? Cat’s name, dog’s name, child’s name… People, we are on to you. It will take you a few minutes to change each one but well worth the security.
3. Use a password tool
Use a password bank to securely store your new passwords. I use LastPass, but there are loads of these too. Zoho has one, 1Password, and DashLane are some of the cheapest and best tools on the market. Try this for more options.
4. Connect with partners
If you have more openings than time to fill them, start connecting with partners that will split a fee with you. Being a part of NPAworldwide, a recruitment network, I get to see that those recruiters you fear as competition are often the best partners. These are recruiters working a similar niche in the same geographies that you work. It is obvious that you need to be careful what gets shared, but if you can jointly close 10% more deals in 2019…that is a win that is not easily achieved without partners. There are many good networks and tools out there. Give one a try in 2019.
5. Relax and refresh
Everyone is different but we all need time to clear the head of bad habits and rushed behaviors. This is the perfect time of year to give that a go. If you are a reader, try reading about business and best practices for recruiters. It will prepare you for the best year ever!
Have a happy and safe new year! See you in 2019!
